Why we chose not to offer CJRS second phase

For the past few days the team have carefully reviewed the updated CJRS guidance and considered this alongside current trends in contingent worker supply and demand. People Group have decided not to utilise the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme following the government’s extension of the scheme until March 2021.

People Group CEO Terry Hillier said:

“We have spoken to our clients and contractors, and considered the priorities of the end-client hirers, government and the wider economy as a whole.

“All of the figures that we are seeing show that the temporary recruitment market is very much alive. Demand from end client businesses is good, schools are open, and many sectors are seeing positive growth.

“Our objective is always to support the recruitment eco-system. As it stands, we feel that using furlough now would jeopardise the speedy and full recovery of the recruitment sector.“

Due to the unpredictability of the pandemic People Group will continue to monitor the suitability of the CJRS and will periodically review the decision not to offer CJRS.
