As the country enters a second lockdown the government have announced that the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) – also known as the Furlough scheme – will remain open until December, with employees receiving 80% of their current salary for hours not worked, up to a maximum of £2,500.

People Group CEO Terry Hillier said of the news:

“We welcome the recent announcement to support workers and now await further clarity on precisely who is eligible for extended furlough and the calculations that should be applied. We are in contact with the relevant departments as before, although they too are seeking formal clarification from the official policy makers.”
